To provide the highest standard of care and ensure every medical concern receives the dedicated time it requires, Essential Dermatology offers several types of specialized appointments. When scheduling a medical evaluation, please select the category that best fits your needs:
1. Problem-Focused Exam
Scope: One (1) Single Concern
A Problem-Focused Exam is a targeted visit dedicated to the evaluation and management of one specific skin issue. This allows your provider to focus exclusively on that concern to ensure a thorough assessment and treatment plan.
- Examples: A specific mole that has changed, an acute rash, an acne flare-up, or a single symptomatic lesion.
- Policy: If you have more than one concern to discuss, please let our team know when booking, as additional issues will require a separate appointment to ensure proper clinical focus.
2. Full-Body Skin Cancer Exam
Scope: Skin Cancer Screening
This visit is dedicated exclusively to the detection of skin cancers, such as melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma.
- Focus: This appointment is strictly for a comprehensive skin cancer screening.
- Policy: To maintain the integrity of the screening, other medical concerns (such as rashes, acne, or cosmetic issues) cannot be addressed during this visit. If a separate issue is identified or needs attention, a follow-up appointment will be scheduled.
Why we maintain these distinct appointment types:
We believe that “tacking on” additional issues during a scheduled visit compromises the quality of care. By keeping screenings and single-issue exams separate, we ensure your provider has the necessary time to be thorough, accurate, and focused on your health.
