Many patients who are considering their options for anti-aging treatments often ask about the benefits of injectable dermal fillers such as Juvederm. If you are considering Juvederm filler injections for yourself, we invite you to read the following frequently asked questions about this cosmetic dermatology treatment.
The Juvederm dermal filler injection treatment is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that uses hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the human body, to fill in wrinkles and add some volume to areas of the face. It is commonly used to treat deep lines and folds on the face, such as nasolabial folds (smile lines), marionette lines (lines around the mouth), and vertical lip lines.
Yes, Juvederm can also be used for lip augmentation, adding volume and definition to thin lips, as well as enhancing cheekbones and chin contours. It is also commonly used for non-surgical nose reshaping and correcting scars and depressions on the face.
The duration of results from Juvederm injection treatment varies depending on the specific product used, the area treated, and various factors such as metabolism and lifestyle choices. In general, Juvederm results can last anywhere from six months to two years, with some products lasting longer than others.
As with any cosmetic procedure available today, there are potential risks and side effects that might be associated with Juvederm injections. These may include:
Most patients undergoing treatment can resume normal daily activities immediately following their procedure. However, some might notice mild swelling and bruising at the injection site, which usually resolves within the week. It is usually recommended to avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol consumption for 24 hours after treatment and to contact Dr. Michael Krathen if any unusual changes occur.
